I’d like to answer this question, if I may, in two ways. Firstly, in my normal voice and then in a kind of silly, high-pitched whine.
A melting pot of musical style and innovation that splendidly marries the drama of a power ballad with the soul of a true southerner. Think of it as a collision of the music of Elton John and Rush. Yeah, Lately’s like that. Described as “one of the best bands to come out of Dallas in a long time,” Lately is a band to be reckoned with.
Composed of melodic and ambient piano sounds, carried by intricate bass lines, powerful guitars, and driven by explosive drumming, Lately takes you to places unexpected.
“One of the best bands to come out of Dallas in a long time.”
The lyrics teeter on the edge of a diary entry, reflecting life, love, disappointment, and opportunity, fearlessly candid, with a healthy dose of realism, deeply rooted in a love for Jesus. If you’re looking for the conventional, go look somewhere else. If you want something your creative and spiritual mind can chew on at the same time, stick around a while. We’re glad you’re here.
Changing from the monicker Morgan Guin Band in the summer of 2008, Lately has been making waves in the music scene. Recently, Lately was featured several times on Daystar Television Network’s original show, Check the Sound, playing their music for audiences in every city in America and every country the world. Their music has taken them across the country, even to such iconic stages as Webster Hall in New York City and the Majestic Theater in Dallas. Lately is a band that is pushing the envelope of spiritual music and making new fans everyday. Are you listening?
Currently recording their first full-length album under the new monicker and line up, Moving On is due in stores early 2012. The band’s first live EP, Live Words and Sound Things, is available now here on latelymusic.com and on iTunes.
